Learn how to download an ABA file in Payroller using our simple guide below.
What is an ABA file? ABA files are used by Australian banks to identify payments being made from a single bank account to another or multiple accounts.
Generally, employers will pay employees through an ABA file that their payroll software automatically generates.
Once youโve got your ABA file, all youโll need to do is upload it to your Internet banking portal and authorise the payments.
There are three parts to setting up the ABA file in Payroller
Set up company account details
Step 1: Go to โSettingsโ.
Step 2: Click on โEmployee Payment Optionsโ.
Step 3: Select โPayment File Settingsโ.
Step 4: Fill out the Account details.
Please note: for NAB APCA ID is not required and will be ignored, please enter 000000 in this field to proceed.
Some financial institutions require a self-balancing transaction on their ABA files. Please check with your financial institution if you need this on your file. If this is required, please tick โInclude Self Balancing Transactionโ.
ext, you will need to make sure your employees’ account details are set up.
Set up employee account details
Step 1: Go to โPeopleโ.
Step 2: Select the settings wheel on the employee.
Step 3: Select โBank & Superโ.
Step 4: Click on the dropdown under โPayment Methodโ and select โBankโ.
Step 5: Enter the Account name, BSB, and Account number for your employee and select โSaveโ.
Repeat these steps for all relevant employees.
Next, you will need to download the ABA file.
Download the ABA file
Step 1: Go to the โPayroll & STPโ section in the left-hand side column.
Step 2: Click on the relevant completed pay run.
Step 3: Press the โPayโ button.
Step 4: Click on โDownload ABA Fileโ.
The details shown for your employees are the bank details you entered into the employee card.
Step 5: If the details are all correct, hit โDownloadโ.
Note that once youโve downloaded the ABA file, you arenโt able to open it as it requires a specific program to open it and it is written entirely in code.
Once itโs downloaded, youโll need to upload it to your internet banking provider.
Each bank has a slightly different way of doing this.
