Crafting a small business with Payroller
When Nicole Do visited Japan three years ago, she fell in love with the Japanese art of handcrafting preserved flowers and ferns.
She decided to bring this sentimental and beautiful keepsake home with her and started handcrafting and preserving flowers herself and encapsulating them in magnifying glass bottles.
From there, she started her business En Flor.
“My vision is to create the perfect gift that will help express the feelings and appreciation of the sender to the recipient.”
Every part of her gifts means something.
The handpicked flowers and ferns all have their own meaning and come from all over the world.
Learning to run a business
Since she started her business in 2019, Nicole has worked hard to learn the ins and outs of running a business.
“When starting out I have experienced some challenges especially with understanding markets and finding the right audience for my product. I’ve learnt that it is so important to become adaptable and responsive to ever-changing trends.”
She quickly realised that the hard work starts once your business is up and running.
“As a small business owner, I have learnt that once you have set up the business, it doesn’t end there. You have to constantly grow your brand and do lots of self-learning to measure where you sit among your competitors.”
Bookkeeping was something Nicole didn’t know much about when she first started her business.
She took a quick course and started using software to save time.
Payroller became her product of choice for payroll after she hired her first employee.
“As soon as I hired a new employee, Payroller was the first software that came to mind. Since STP became a legal requirement for businesses. I needed software that could record wages and also report this information to the ATO. Payroller works flawlessly and FREE too!”
The joys of creating something special
Nicole feels proud to run her business and provide something meaningful to her customers.
“Running my own business brings me a very strong sense of accomplishment in knowing that I am contributing to society by providing my customers with the perfect meaningful gift while supporting Australian businesses by sourcing materials locally.”
Her advice to other business owners is to use great technology like Payroller.
“Invest in software. Information technology is so readily available today. It is one of the best investments for your business.”
